Constance Stokes symposium

Constance Stokes.jpg

Stokes has been described by prominent journalist and author Dr Anne Summers AO as ‘one of our country’s finest artists’. A pioneer of Australian Modernism, Stokes is represented in most major galleries in Australia, and her works are keenly sought after by private collectors and galleries throughout Australia and in Europe.

The Constance Stokes symposium features a stellar lineup of guest speakers who will explore the life, art and legacy of Constance Stokes. Felicity St John Moore is a renowned art historian and author who has curated exhibitions and written about artists including Charles Blackman and Danila Vassilieff for the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Gallery of Australia and Christie’s Australia. She’ll be joined by portraiture expert Dr Vivien Gaston, Constance Stokes’s daughter Lucilla Wyborn d’Abrera and Director of Beleura House & Garden, Anthony Knight.

Morning tea and lunch will be served in the Gatehouse and lectures will take place in the charming Tallis Pavilion.
