history

Since its inception in 1973, the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery has specialised in collecting Australian works on paper. To support its contemporary collections and to promote artists working in this field the Gallery developed annual acquisitive drawing and print prizes as a major focus of its exhibition program.

Artists continue to push the boundaries of drawing and printmaking and in recognition of this expanding practice the Gallery incorporated and relaunched its prize exhibitions in 1998 as the National Works on Paper.
