2002 Exhibition

eX de Medici won the prestigious National Works on Paper exhibition in 2002 with a stunning watercolour work. Medici’s intensely detailed and skillfully worked watercolour drew upon the classical practice of botanical illustration together with the craft of body tattooing to relate her challenging subject matter.  

The judges – an artist and two curators at prominent art galleries in Melbourne – selected six works that were felt to be superb examples within their field including Kate Cotching’s delicately incised paper shopping bags, Sharon Goodwin’s caricaturesque portrait and a work by internationally acclaimed artist, Gareth Sansom.

The exhibition consisted of 70 works that were selected from over 400 entrants from around Australia.
