World Migratory Bird day at MPRG

Free family fun! Make a bird flock and print a lino-cut card, hear stories, enter an Australia-wide drawing competition and hear from experts about the amazing  birds and wetland of the Westernport Biosphere.

Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the gallery surrounds including duck ponds, skate park, play ground and rose garden.

Program:

11am-1pm

- Make a plastic bird from recycled materials

- Print a lino cut card with exhibiting artist Kate Gorringe-Smith

- Wing Things activity Laura Rhodes from BirdLife Australia, Migratory Shorebird Program Co-ordinator

11.30pm-12pm

Gretel Taylor creates site-responsive performance works and improvised dance performances. Flap your wings with Gretel for a participatory performance celebrating migratory birds.

12pm-12.30pm

Join exhibiting artist Kate Gorringe-Smith for a storytime and launch of the ANSTO drawing competition - over $4000 in prizes

12.30pm–1pm

Greg Hunt from Westernport Biosphere gives a kid-friendly presentation on local migratory birds
