Heritage Hill is a unique historic precinct featuring three beautifully preserved buildings. Laurel Lodge, Benga House and St James Anglican Church are set in the historic garden. On arrival, enjoy a tour of Laurel Lodge (1869) and hear about the past owners of Laurel Lodge, including a pioneer, colonial architect, district doctor and an auctioneer.
It was also the site of an elite ladies private school. Benga House (1936) offers visitors the opportunity to explore life in the inter war years through audio and displays and Kate Rose’s installation Shadow Puppetry - Greater Dandenong will be featured. St James Church (1864) was originally built beside the school and services have been held from the opening continuously to the present day.
See the Heritage Garden that forms a part of early Dandenong history featuring vegetable gardens and orchards, massed plantings of annuals and perennials, formal gardens with shady trees and lawns reflecting the tastes of the early settlers.
Afterwards, have lunch at the Dandenong Workers Social Club overlooking the golf course at own expense.
