Portraiture is a fine art and few know it as well as Australian painter Lewis Miller. Miller’s works hang in galleries around Australia and overseas and he has been shortlisted for the Archibald Prize 16 times, winning in 1998. Learn about the art of portraiture in this figure drawing masterclass. Lewis will begin with the fundamentals of the drawing media charcoal and India ink. Through tutorial and demonstration, expect to gain an understanding of perspective, foreshortening and pictorial composition. 

A materials list will be provided on registration.

MATERIALS LIST

Participant to provide:

  • Willow Charcoal (medium)

  • Kneadable eraser

  • Containers for water and ink

  • Dabbing cloth

  • Protective smock/old clothing

 MPRG will provide:

  • A2 size, 130gsm cartridge paper

  • Black pigmented drawing ink (Art Spectrum)

  • Easels, backing boards and clips

Lewis Miller is kindly supplying brushes however you may wish to bring your own.
