Joshua Searle: Screen printing Workshop

Josh Searle on chair.jpg

Do not miss this opportunity to work with Peninsula based artist Joshua Seale and the legends of printmaking, Danica and Stewart from Spacecraft Studios for a fun, hands-on, printmaking session. Together they have created screen printing frames with images referenced from Josh’s work currently on display at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. Joshua explores bold colours (representative of the Colombian flag) figurative repetition, cryptic text and symbols of colonisation and identity to explore meaning across his work.

In the workshop you will be given a tote bag to print on and you may also bring additional items (maximum 2) for more printing and creativity! T-shirts are great and collared shirts work well too. Hint: remove the buttons from a shirt for a design across both front panels and sew them back on later!

Designs will be heat treated at the workshop and if you can bring a coat hanger to hang up your tote bag and/or other garments that would be ideal. All paints are water based but bring an apron if you 're one of those messy types! You don't need printmaking experience, the experts will guide you all the way...
