Lean about Beverley’s indigenous practice whilst creating your own inspired object. The cost includes includes all workshop materials and afternoon tea.
Beverley is an emerging artist who enjoys working with a wide variety of mediums including ceramics, timber, stone and kelp. She is a proud Nunga woman of the Kokatha/Wirangu people of South Australia. Inspired by her upbringing on the South Australian coast and her current home on the Mornington Peninsula, Beverley strives to showcase the healing properties of the ocean through her work.
Beverley collected the materials in her current exhibition at MPRG from Flinders (beach), with the intention to bring their beauty back to life through art. Beverley says that working with kelp means that the final product is always dictated by the sea.
Kelp is protected under the marine resources act but can be collected by Aboriginal people for cultural purposes.
