{FRIENDS EVENT} Colin G Smith - A talk on Penleigh Boyd

Colin has spoken previously at the Gallery and will be our guest for this talk on Australian landscape artist, Penleigh Boyd.  He has recently published a remarkable book on the life and work of this member of the Boyd dynasty who is sometimes overlooked.  Many people will know his painting, ‘Winter Calm, Frankston’ which is typical of the beauty of his work.  Colin’s book also illustrates the work of Penleigh’s wife, Edith Susan Anderson, and his parents Emmie Minnie and Arthur Merric.

For over 30 years Colin Smith has researched and written about the Boyd family, including Penleigh’s brother, Merric Boyd and Murrumbeena and his niece, Lucy Boyd Beck. ‘Sunlight and Storm: The Life and Art of Penleigh Boyd’, is his third book.
