Portraiture Masterclass: with Andrea Huelin

Meet at 9am at MPRG to view Andrea’s 2023 Packing Room prize-winning work Clown jewels, prior to commencing the workshop at 10am at The Nook Gallery & Studios, 18 Progress St, Mornington

$190 per person, includes exhibition entry at MPRG to view Andrea's work, all workshop materials and tea/coffee on arrival at The Nook.

This specialised Masterclass is designed to develop your practice in the genre of portraiture and to give you the confidence and knowledge to portray the face in oils.

Over the day you will cover fundamentals such as laying out a colour palette, colour choices and mixing, brush work, proportion, skin tone and general oil painting techniques. You will learn about oil as a medium, solvents, brush types and sizes and surface options.

All materials will be supplied however you will need to bring your own photos as reference material. Once registered, we will send you information Andrea has provided about what sort of picture or photograph works well!

All levels of oil painting experience are welcome. It is essential to book as numbers are limited to 12 participants. Please bring an apron and your lunch if you do not wish to purchase lunch or a snack!

Andrea Huelin was born in Perth, Western Australia, and now lives and works in Cairns, Queensland. Andrea’s paintings focus on scenes and objects from her everyday life, with colour, form, lustre and light captured by her economical brushwork. Andrea is also an accomplished portrait artist, with paintings hung in a number of prestigious portrait prizes. She has held solo exhibitions in Queensland and New South Wales and has taken part in group exhibitions around Australia and in Germany. Andrea is represented by Michael Reid Gallery, Sydney and Berlin.
