Young Archie and education

Young Archie Mornington Peninsula
Young Archie Mornington Peninsula features portraits by primary and secondary school students from across the peninsula. Students were invited to participate via their schools and we are excited to present the most outstanding portraits of someone significant to the young artists.

Teachers are welcome to contact our Education Officer, Jill Anderson, about Archibald Prize 2023 workshops in schools and for Young Archie general enquiries:

Young at Art
Our preschooler program Young at Art will run Monday mornings 10am-10.30am in the Gallery, followed by a workshop at the rose garden. Find out more details here.

School holiday workshops
We will be hosting school holiday workshops with Archibald Prize 2023 artists. These will be available on our events page closer to the time.

The interactive September School Holiday Portrait Workshops are exclusively designed for kids. Our workshops, led by talented Archibald Prize 2023 finalists, provide children with a unique opportunity to explore their creativity, learn essential art techniques and embark on an unforgettable journey into the world of portraiture.

Throughout the workshops kids will learn essential techniques, including proportion and capturing a human likeness, as our Archibald Prize finalists share their expertise, tips and tricks.

From beginners to more experienced young artists our workshops offer a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
