Artist & Curator: In conversation
Join local artist John Baird and curator and writer Rodney James for an in-conversation about John’s first major survey exhibition The Authentic Consequence.
Featuring over 60 works spanning paintings, drawings, furniture and sculpture, the exhibition traces Baird’s remarkable journey from his beginnings as an emerging Melbourne artist to his most recent creations.
Baird’s story is rich with artistic connections — from his formative role as studio assistant to Leonard French, to his early days with Roar Studios, to decades painting Mornington Peninsula seascapes and interiors. His influences range from Pre-Columbian art to Marc Chagall, Margaret Preston and Dorothy Braund.
The conversation will also explore works created after his 2017 heart transplant, reflecting on life, death and second chances.
This is a free event however please register your attendance so we know to expect you.
