Join MPRG Curator Dunja Rmandić for walkthrough of the Autumn exhibitions to hear about Emma Shepherd’s show Taking a thread for a walk and the sensational exhibition New Exuberance: Contemporary Australian Textile Design touring from the JamFactory in South Australia.

Sundance Studio: Taking a thread for a walk
Flinders-based weaver Emma Shepherd practices one of the world's oldest crafts with a sensibility of an artist deeply embedded in her environment. Using yarns collected from all around the world allows Shepherd an opportunity to reflect on the deeper history of fibre, its role in human history and weaving's legacy as humanity's earliest algorithms in action.

New Exuberance: Contemporary Australian Textile Design
Bringing contemporary art, design and fashion together, New Exuberance celebrates creative collaboration, sustainability and the versatility of textile craft. Incorporating graphic, furniture and product design, fashion and the visual arts, the works play with surface patterning, material experimentation, storytelling and conceptual ideas.

We also have on display New Wave 24 which showcases the works of VCE and VCE VET art, visual art, media arts, fashion, design and technology students within the Mornington Peninsula Shire. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, multimedia, ceramics, installation and more by a new generation of young artists.
