Join exhibiting artist, Louise Rippert and her long-time collaborator and studio mate of 30 years, sculptor William Eicholtz, for an illustrated talk about their inspiring Artist Residency project, “Lights Across the Sea” in India in 2012.
Locating themselves in the Holy city of Varanassi in the lead up to the celebration of Diwali - the Festival of Lights, Louise and William embarked on a creative journey of chance, luck and friendship as they set their sights on building a cross-cultural collaboration which resulted in the creation of new public and site-specific artworks, a short film by the Indian film company, MoonLight Pictures and the ongoing relationships of so many involved.
Join the artists for a delicious Indian supper as they present a short illustrated talk revealing the surprising twists and turns of their creative pursuits and how the local traditions became interwoven with their own creative language to forge meaningful connections between the two worlds. The talk will be followed by the screening of their short film, Lights cross the Sea and a question-and-answer session.
