FRIENDS OF MPRG EVENT Alan McCulloch's world of Art

Rodney James, an art historian, consultant, and former curator at the MPRG, has recently released 'Letters to a Critic', an intriguing exploration of the life and work of Alan McCulloch. McCulloch was an artist, a friend of artists, an art critic for The Melbourne Herald for 30 years, and the founder of the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. Rodney vividly brings our founding father to life, delving into the captivating company of artists who were his friends and colleagues on the peninsula and across Australia - figures such as Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams, and John Perceval. The discussion will provide insights into the vision and determination of the man who established the initial gallery on Vancouver Street in 1971 and inspired the creation of the current gallery, which opened its doors in 1990.
