Julia Gorman: Collaborative Wall Drawing workshop

Julia Gorman Deakin install 2020 2.jpg

Julia Gorman is a Melbourne based artist. Spanning over 15 years, her multifaceted practice includes sculpture, installation, painting, drawing and public commissions.

Renown for her bold, colourful works, Julia has exhibited widely internationally and throughout Australia, showing at major institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, The National Gallery of Victoria, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and Heide Museum of Modern Art.

Areas covered in the workshop will include working collaboratively, the use and meaning of the colour green, spatial and other considerations when planning a wall drawing, how to scale up your work, and techniques for using adhesive vinyl.

We will spend some time planning the drawing as a group, then each participant will work on their own or in smaller groups to plan sections using pencil and markers on paper. We will then work collaboratively to create and install the whole work, discussing and making changes to the plan as needed. The drawing will be photographed using participants’ own phones and de-installed the same day.

All abilities welcome and materials will be supplied. This workshop will be directed towards an adult audience.
