LAST Collective: Artist talk and Performance
Gallery visitors are invited to drop by at 1:30pm for an informal artist talk, followed by the performance from 2pm to 4pm.
The LAST Collective is a Naarm/Melbourne-based group of artists who are known for their careful imbrication of sculpture, photography and performance. Their Front Beach, Back Beach (FBBB) project, Notes on Light and Air (Shoreline Score), responded to the complex natural ecology at Jacks' Reserve, Bittern, with a temporary outdoor sculpture and a series of performances.
The Collective will perform at MPRG with the timber and steel components of the sculpture: their fragmented 'score'. The performance explores the score's potential for reconfiguration: objects and materials are added and rearranged; spoken-word elements invite interaction; and the energies of light and air are captured, held and transmitted.
This is a free event, however please register so we know to expect you.
