Join local jeweller & MPRG shop stockist Chloe McColl to learn about the ancient artform of Lost wax casting.

This workshop will run over TWO consecutive Thursdays:

- Thursday 11 September > 5.30pm - 9pm
- Thursday 18 September > 5.30pm - 8.30pm

In this hands-on workshop, students will explore a variety of wax working techniques to carve and create their own piece of sterling silver jewellery.

You will be working with approximately 10 grams of sterling silver, with the option to discuss and increase your weight of silver if you wish. Additional charges will apply.

The workshop will run over two separate evenings – with the first focused on wax working. In this first session you will design and ultimately create your bespoke piece from wax. Students will learn how to size rings; create and join wax findings; create textures and leave unique impressions. As well as how to choose the right wax, select from a range of different tools and prepare your wax for casting.

The second evening will be focused on cleaning your silver casting. Your piece will have already been cast into silver and the focus will be on finishing and cleaning to ensure a wearable and complete finished piece.

All materials and tools will be supplied and light refreshments offered on arrival.

These workshop sessions have been designed for beginners and intermediate jewellery makers wishing to expand their skill set as an introduction to Lost wax casting.

Students will leave with their own stunning piece of silver jewellery and enough knowledge, skills, and industry contacts to continue their journey with Lost wax casting at home.
