Please select your preferred date when purchasing your ticket. Options are either Saturday 8 October, or Friday 14 October, 10am - 4pm

Monotypes are known as the most direct form of printmaking and can be explored with both a painterly and drawing like expression, making one unique print. Oil based ink is applied onto a perspex plate with rollers, brushes and tools, the image is made by either painting or drawing on or into that surface, or by removing ink with a cloth, tools, or fingers. The images are printed and transferred by hand or printmaking press onto paper.

Over this workshop you will be introduced to a positive and negative monotype and a direct transfer monotype, printing some variations by hand and others with the printmaking press. In the afternoon you can choose which technique you would like to explore and delve into the world of layering and ghost monotypes.

Participants will need to bring one or two inspirational ideas, photos or drawings, or you can choose to draw from the studio or garden.

Please bring your lunch and an apron. All print making materials and equipment will be supplied.
