Polyphony for Intertidal Ecologies - with Geoff Robinson

Polyphony for Intertidal Ecologies G_Robinson 2025-72dpi.jpg

Situated at Monmar/Point Nepean on Bunurong Country, this outdoor performance engages with the ecologies of the intertidal zone - the area where land and sea meet - focusing on the complex relations of pollution with these coastal environments.

The performance will be presented after a day workshop of collaboration and creative field work with Geoff Robinson and ten participants. The participants will bring their experience of engaging with intertidal hydro listening and plastic pollution collection to perform a sound score generated for the performance. Here's a few of the performers participating on the day!

Bridget Hillebrandis an interdisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne-Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Her recent projects reflect upon human impact on shifting ecological systems.

Elijah Cristiano - is studying the Master of Photography at RMIT University, engaging in practice-based research that challenges anthropocentrism by emphasising relational, interconnected ecologies in the context of deep time.

Georgia Nowak - is a PhD candidate at MADA in Fine Arts and her research focus is on hydrological injustice and how visual (and sound) media can contribute to an alternative mode of being with water. I hope to reveal relationships with the non-human and the importance of recognising cultural water as it flows, displacing the dispossession seen in Australia through aqua nullius.

Charity Edwards - is a lecturer and architect who collaborates with artists and scientists to create objects, spaces and urban strategy. Her research charts the urbanisation of remote and off-world environments.

vāimanatu avene - Tuvaluan and Irish artist, parent and researcher raised and living on unceeded Kulin lands. They use creative practice to explore and grapple with complex themes of being both settler and indigenous to other lands, committed to a liberatory Land Back future.
