Afternoon drop-in session: Unfurling Insects ochre painting afternoon
Drop-in kids’ session: Insect ochre painting. Sunday afternoon
Help us launch the making space for Unfolding, meet the artist Sammy Trist (Taungwurrung) and colour an insect with ochre and pencils, attach it to the wall, and contribute to a collaborative community artwork that builds over the duration of the exhibition.
Ochre, a natural earth pigment formed from clay infused with iron oxide, has long held deep cultural significance for First Peoples. It is valued for its use in art, ceremony, and healing, and as a powerful symbol of connection to Country. Learn from Sammy about her culture, as she shares knowledge, stories and the traditional art practice of ground ochre painting.
No bookings required.
