Do You Read Me
Text-based works from the MPRG Collection, curated by Stephanie Sacco
Inspired by American artist Bruce Nauman’s use of text in his practice, and especially in response to the work The true artist helps the world by revealing mystic truths (1967), this exhibition brings together works from the MPRG Collection that use text to convey their meaning
The exhibition will show the work of artists Juan Davila, Robert Fielding, Guerrilla Girls, Katherine Hattam, Gareth Sansom, Lisa Waup and others.
Emma Davies
MPRG Local Focus
Local artist Emma Davies transforms humble industrial materials into ethereal textile sculptures inspired by the natural beauty of the Mornington Peninsula. This solo exhibition showcases sculptures meticulously crafted from baler twine pressed into repurposed bird netting. Her innovative techniques are labour-intensive and repetitive, as she explains: “there’s thousands and thousands of dots which I create by melting the end of the twine and pressing the twine into a netting”. These delicate forms are organic and fluid, reflecting the essence of water.
